The reg is AL-050-CW

Assuming AL-050-CW is the original Italian plate number, this Panda has been registered in Rome district in the last week of december 1996.

Of course this information is unuseful if the vehicle has been re-registered form another district (very frequent in Italy in those years) or coming from abroad.
In order to know the year model and the building data from the registering data, we should have the VIN (chassis number) instead of the plate number.

Theres also a problem with the car not starting. It was driven to a dry garage about 6 months ago, so ok then. When I came yesterday the battery was flat. I replaced it with a new one but no start. I checked a spark plug and no spark, and don't think any petrol is getting to the carburettor. Then I noticed the warning lights on the dash - see picture. Could this be the reason?
I don’t know what the “code” refers to. That isn’t in the handbook for the car, it should be a seatbelt warning light. I’m not aware of an immobiliser on the car but the previous owner might have installed one I suppose? The one below says it means a problem with the injector- related to the “code”?
Has anyone any ideas?? I’m stuck!!

I don’t know what the “code” refers to

There is the drawing of a key... it might mean that the engine key you are using is not programmed with the correct code (or a "passive" key without the transponder).
In case I'm right, you could solve it only in an official Fiat service.

Thanks a lot for the information about the car. The only thing about the key is that it did start the car 6 months ago. Could the battery replacement have affected the key operation?

I’ve taken pictures of the key. I’ve noticed a symbol on it and a number on the other side. Does this mean it is a transponder key that might have a code error?

Also forgot to say I put 20ml of petrol directly into the carburettor and tried again to start it. As before it turned over but did not start

You have a "Magneti Marelli" single point electronic injection version

When the engine just does not start, the first thing to check is whether the inertia switch has engaged (it engages automatically in the event of a collision or road accident and blocks the fuel pump).

In this case, however, when you turn the key in the ignition, you do not hear the noise of the petrol pump at all.

However, when the "Key Code" light stays on, the problem is different.

It could be the faulty key or the "Key Code" transponder which must read the key code.

I guess you've tried, if you have one, to start it with another key.

Keys with transponders can be duplicated ... as long as they are not broken.

I would first try to go to a key duplicator shop, if they can read the KeyCode of yours most likely the problem is with the transponder.
If they can't read the KeyCode and you only have one key ... there's a problem!

Another test you can do is try to borrow a compatible control unit of a Panda that does not have the keycode or has the keycode scodified from a Fiat garage.

For example, I have this:

it is not perfectly programmed for our engine (176B2000) but it works and above all it does not have the keycode. In an emergency ... you always manage to get home.
